On April 4-6th The Troop was out and about again, this time at Schiff Scout Reservation participating in the Wood Carving segment of Pine Tree Training. Forteen boys and four leaders spent yet another rainy saturday moving about the camp, cooking and generally trying to keep warm and dry!
What was significant about this trip was several boys were able to fulfill the requirements for Woodcarving Merit Badge. Among those acquring the badge were several of our brand new scouts from the Raccoon Patrol.
Never let it be said the adult leaders were idle, as our first aid skills were tested on several occasions tending to nicks caused by the occasional errant knife!
Additionally, Alex N.,who has assembled 700 worn out american flags, brought several hundred along on this trip, and were disposed of, in a dignified ceremony on Saturday evening.
Check the Troop photo album and see the quality wood carvings assembled by the Sagamore Service Troop, the group that sponsors Pine Tree training.
