The first outing of the '03 - 04 scouting year has us hiking the 11.3 from Bergen Council's Alpine Scout Camp along the top of the Pallisades to Fort Lee Historical Center, Ft Lee NJ.
An uncommonly hot day presented a bit of a challenge for 10 boys as we hiked the length of the trail. Periodic overlooks over the Huson River made the trip quit enjoyable. Historic ruins, soaring falcons and hawks and even a miniature castle also enhanced the trip.
Just when you thought you could kick back and take it easy, who would have thought we would have to move our campsite when we returned to the camp? Due to an administrative error, overrun by cubscouts, we had to move all our gear to a different campsite, after the hike. This task was performed by the scouts with a minimum of grumbling. What a character building day!
