Troop 5, never wanting to rest, took to the road again in November, this time to Hawk Mt. Sanctuary, Pa. Hawk Mt lies at the edge of the Kittatinny range that runs through New York to Delaware. Hawk Mt. is in a line favorable for annual southward raptor migration. At various times during the fall, many species of eagle, hawk, and falcon pass over Hawk mt., making it a birdwatching mecca! Beautiful natural surroundingss, glacial rock formations, native plant and wildlife demonstrations, and a museum make this a favorite trip every year! It even has a gift shop!
A hike through the River of Rocks, and then a climb to the North viewing area was on our agenda this trip. The climb up along the east side was particularly challenging, and a welcome thrill for our group. Beautiful, clear weather, and comfortable, windless temperature mad this trip truly enjoyable!
